From a young age Sue was dabbling in the arts. Winning competitions in grade school for her sketches and projects. Also drawing wildlife to detail with pencil at home. Dreaming some day of learning how to put color to her black and white detailed drawings. In Canada, Sue quickly learned that much could be accomplished with Acrylics. As she studied Robert Bateman's work, and read his books, she experimented in the evenings after her first two children were in bed and sleeping.Sometimes staying up painting until 3 o'clock in the morning. Sue is a self taught artist, not taking lessons, but learning at art shows painting among her peers. Her love of nature and wildlife are her inspiration to create beauty with the creatures of the world, she finds so interesting. Studing Robert Bateman's art most of her adult life, Bateman is by far Sue's greatest mentor. Sue feels that the world of nature is dissappearing around us at such a great pace, these animal treasures must be captured for eternity to share with our grandchildren, or they will never have the joy of the experience of the world as it should be. Sue lives in Renfrew, Ontario, in the heart of the beautiful Ottawa Valley. |
