HOME ART STUDIOS

Are you buying the right piece of art? Is the art for you are seeking, for an investment? for your home or office? or simply pure enjoyment and love of art? Some may encounter those who will laugh when you mention that you love landscapes, or the work of the group of seven, or even three-dimensional art. Apart from actually creating it yourself, buying art can be one of the most intensely satisfying pursuits you could ever experience. Once you are in the market for art and are actually touring studios, you will encounter such visual richness that your cheeks may actually "tingle". Your view of the world will shift with colourful new ideas as you begin to see it through the eyes of others. A piece of art allows people the opportunity to make a personal statement, to express the personal self.

An art studio tour will offer you a variety of choice. Each artist has something different to offer. Whether it is a painting or a sculpture, you instinctively just want that particular piece of work. And if you purchase it, this art piece becomes yours and you will treasure it forever. Touring the studios will enlighten you. The more art you see the more you are able to identify yourself with the different mediums such as oils, watercolour, pastels, and styles such as impressionism, realism, folk or three-dimensional.

An art collector in New Brunswick once told me that he was in the art collection business for sixty years. He told me that art collecting is very personal and that one should buy what they like not what seems to be popular. Art is emotional; it should move you. If it moves you, it is for you.

The EXPOSITION D’ART group of artists on Allumette Island, Morrison’s Island, and the Laurentian Shores in Waltham, offers a unique selection of oil paintings, watercolour paintings, wood sculptures, glass and folk art displayed at the homes and studios of the artists. You have the unique opportunity to meet and talk to the artists in a relaxed atmosphere. There are no "high pressure" salespeople nor do the artists expect you to buy on the spot. Often, buyers will re-visit a studio two or even three times prior to buying if they find a piece of art that catches their eye.

EXPOSITION D’ART is a group of nine artists with home studios open to the public from May 1st through October 31st. Palette signs with numbers and colours, guide you along the route from one artist to another. Brochures are available throughout the area at various businesses and tourist centers. Do take the time to enjoy the EXPOSITION D’ART this coming season. You may just find the piece of art that YOU have been looking for!
