The Eganville & District Seniors supports seniors
by offering a wide variety of services including:
Meals
On Wheels,
Telephone Assurance,
Diners' Club,
Home Maintenance,
Transportation,
Information and Referral,
Frozen Meals

Who Is Eligible?
Senior Citizens, age 60 and older, and disabled individuals living within
our service area are eligible to request Home Support Services.
Many of our programs such as Meals on Wheels and Frozen Meals are available
to individuals of ANY AGE who require a helping hand, whether it is
just for a little while or for long term.
Funding:
Home Support Services are dependant on donations from generous
supporters. The Ministry of Health subsidizes approximately 60% of the
budget for these programs. The remaining 40% of the budget must be
raised through fundraising events, donations, and memorial gifts.
Donations from individuals and organizations are always welcome.

Meals
On Wheels
Hot, nutritious meal, prepared by a local caterer, are delivered to clients
in their homes by volunteers. Meals are available for disabled
individuals, or those recovering from an injury or illness, or anyone, regardless
of age, requiring assistance with meals short term or long term.
Meals include an entree, vegetable, and potato or pasta, a bread, a soup or
salad, and a dessert
Meals are nutritionally balanced and special meals are available for
Diabetic, Low Cholesterol, and Soft diets. All meals are low
salt.
Meals are available twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Arrangements for frozen meals for the rest of the week are available.
Meal delivery is available throughout our service area, including Eganville, Golden Lake,
Douglas, Rankin, and the rural areas.
Cost to clients is $4.00 per meal. Donations to help offset the full
cost of Meals On Wheels and transportation costs for clients outside of town
are
welcome.
Telephone Assurance
Willing volunteers will call regularly to assure that the Senior is safe
and secure at home. Volunteers will chat and provide information on
community events and news.
There is no cost to clients for this security check program.

Diners' Club
-
Once a month Seniors come to the Seniors' Centre at noon for a
nutritious meal. A social program and guest speakers are also
provided. Transportation to the Diners' Club can be
arranged.

Cost to clients is usually $8.50 per meal.
Home Maintenance
Home Help is provided to Seniors
who require help in and around their home for maintenance or repair
jobs. Housekeeping, grass cutting or snow shoveling etc. is provided by
a "Paid Worker".
This is a link-up service, fees are
paid by the Senior to the paid worker.

Transportation,
A volunteer driver is linked to a
senior to provide transportation to Non-medical appointments such as grocery
shopping, banking, or social events.
Clients reimburse volunteer drivers
for their expenses at a rate of $0.33 per Kilometer.
Information and
Referral,
Information is available on a number of topics and issues,
including filling out forms and income taxes, and
dealing with government
offices. Referrals to other programs and services available
to seniors will
also be provided. Visits to Senior's homes may be made
where further
information on services is provided.
There is no cost to the senior for
this service.
Frozen
Meals
Frozen meals that are delicious,
nutritionally balanced meals, and designed particularly for Seniors are available to
to individuals of any age who wish help with meals. Wonderful main dishes, soups and desserts,
using traditional recipes we know you will love!

These home-style meals can be heated
in your regular oven or the microwave, and can be kept on hand in your freezer -
ready whenever you are!
An excellent source of nutrition for
seniors and others who need a helping hand with meals.
The perfect solution for individuals
of any age who are unable to obtain or prepare adequate meals due to illness,
disability, frailty, isolation, or any other reason.
Special diets available including
diabetic, low fat, low salt, renal, and
pureed.
Cost is $4.25 for each entree and
$1.45 for soups and desserts.
