Biographical Information

MONIQUE:

Born, raised and educated in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.

Attended l'École Notre Dame du Rosaire, The Beauregard Business School and graduated in 1956.

From 1956 to December 1961 - Worked as the personal secretary to the owner of Skinner & Nadeau Jewellery Store in Sherbrooke.

From 1962 to 1963 - Worked as a secretary in the Drafting/Engineering Department, Steel Equipment Co., Pembroke, Ontario.

From 1963 to 1972 - Employed as the personal secretary to the manager of the Ottawa Forest Protective Association (equivalent to the Ministry of Lands & Forest in Ontario), Allumette Island, Quebec.

From 1974/1975 - Taught French as a second language at Fairview and Laurentian schools, Pembroke, Ontario.

From 1976 to 1982 - Worked as the personal secretary to the Department Head of Technology & Trades at the Pembroke campus of Algonquin College, Pembroke, Ontario.

From 1982 to 1997 - Employed full - time in Court Administration, Ontario Court (General Division), Pembroke, Ontario.

In November 1997, retired from full - time position with Ontario Court( General Division).

From January 1998 to the present time - Works on contract, on a part - time basis, as a Court Registrar, in Ontario Court ( General Division), Pembroke, Ontario.

ANDRÉ:

Born. raised and educated in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.

Attended l'École Racine, l'École Notre Dame du Rosaire and the Sherbrooke Institute of Technology. Graduated from the Institute of Technology in June 1958 and specialized as an automobile mechanic.

From June 1958 to December 1960 - Worked as an apprentice mechanic and as a licenced mechanic in Montreal, Quebec.

From December 1960 to January 31st,1964 - Joined the Canadian Armed Forces and was a member of the Canadian Provost Corps (Military Police). Served at the Citadel, Quebec City, Quebec, C.F.B. Valcartier, Quebec, C.F.B. Borden, Ontario, C.F.B. Gagetown, New-Brunswick, C.F.B. Petawawa, Ontario, and had a temporary posting in Soest, Germany.

From February 3rd, 1964 to June 30th, 1994 - Joined the Ontario Provincial Police and was a member of the Force for 30½ years, until retirement in 1994. Spent entire career with the O.P.P. Detachment in Pembroke, Ontario, but was on loan and worked on several long - term projects in other areas of the province.

Upon retirement in June 1994, had served a total of 33½ years as a police officer.

Was the recipient of The Long Service and Good Conduct Medal from the Province of Ontario and The Exemplary Service Medal with a silver bar and maple leaf, from the Governor General of Canada.

FAMILY:

Monique was fourteen and André was sixteen years old when they met while going to school. They went together for five years and were married on September 9th, 1961. They now have three adult married children. Two sons, Daniel and Mark, and one daughter, Linda. They also have a grand-daughter, Marie-Josée.

Personal Interests

Monique: Cooking, reading, movie videos and travelling to a warmer climate for part of the winters. Has been to Barbados, Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco, Mexico, and on numerous occasions to Fort Lauderdale and North Miami Beach, Florida.

André: Music, reading, movies, learning how to cook & how to use a personal computer, travelling.

Hobbies

Monique: Swimming

André: Is an avid golfer who plays three or four times a week, weather permitting. During the summer of 1998, he had the good luck of hitting TWO holes-in-one at the Island Brae Golf Club, Allumette Island, Quebec. The first time, he did not have a witness - what a bummer!!! The second time, he had two witnesses - God must be just!!! Also curls several times a week and enters curling bonspiels during the winter. Likes to watch boxing, wrestling (yes, even that), hockey and several other sports on TV.
