We would like to thank all of our Participants, Sponsors
and Volunteers, without whom our success would not have been possible!
Here's what we have achieved together!
2000
In 2000, the foundation responded to a request from Pembroke
Minor Hockey for a donation. We were able to donate enough sweaters for
the entire atom division. These sweaters are expected to last for ten
years.
2001
In 2001 the foundation was able to donate money, along
with his father Frank Adlam, for some children to attend the Youth Ministries
Hockey School. This is an organization that Tim was involved with every
summer. Five children were able to attend the camp that otherwise would
not have had the chance.
2002
In 2002, the Foundation donated $5000.00 to the
Town of Petawawa to help them build a playground for children in the area
where Tim lived. In 2003 Peter Boudens and Molson Canada, and the Town
of Petawawa helped to improve the Tim Adlam Park by donating funds necessary
through their Local Hero's initiative. A new weather shelter was constructed
at the park to help protect it's users from inclement weather and to provide
a shaded rest area.
2003
In 2003, the Foundation was able to donate $5000.00
to the Pembroke and Area Boy's and Girl's Club. This donation was greatly
appreciated by the club and used for a wide variety of children's programs
and activities in areas where the children would have otherwise not had
an opportunity to participate.
2004
In 2004 we donated a set of jerseys to the upstart junior
lacrosse league in Pembroke, donated a new sound system to the Petawawa
Fund Raising Committee to assist them with their own fundraising initiatives
at the Petawawa Civic Centre hall, $5000.00 to the Phoenix Centre
and Alpha House for their children's risk prevention programs and $2000.00
for the Petawawa Public Library for a multimedia centre for children as
part of their new expansion.
2005
In 2005 we donated $500.00 to the Micheal Burgess
and Rik Emmett concert at Festival Hall in Pembroke which in turn was
a fundraiser for Our Lady of Lourdes elementary school to establish a
music program for children. We also donated $1500.00 to Youth Ministries
Hockey School. This is an organization that Tim was involved with every
summer. Four more children were able to attend the camp that otherwise
would not have had the chance.
Also in 2005 we donated $500.00 to a young girl from the Pembroke
area to attend a prestigious summer camp called the 'Educational Leadership
Centre' in Orilla, Ontario. This camp is an exceptional opportunity for
students to gain valuable self confidence and leadership qualities combined
with various sports activities. The young lady that we had assisted to
attend the camp had recently lost her father and within a few months her
mother passed on as well.
With the passing of a friend of the Foundation, Jason Doucet, in the
summer of 2005, $1000.00 was donated to a scholarship fund that
was created to assist with his children's future educational needs.
We were also fortunate enough to assist Terry Giroux and the Pembroke
Oldtimers hockey club by donating $3000.00 that was directed towards
a portion of wheel chair van for a local youth named Nicole Wheeler.
2006
In 2006, the Foundation, on behalf of our annual hockey
tournament champion team from Cormac, donated $1000.00 to a trust
fund created for a young girl from Round Lake, Emily Borutski, age 3,
to assist with the outpouring of community support in an ongoing battle
against a brain tumour.
In April, we donated $5000.00 to the Children's Wish Foundation
to grant one of three wishes for local deserving children. The money we
be used for a trip to Disneyworld, for a child with a life threatening
illness.
In May we donated $500.00 to Jasmine Scobie, from Renfrew, to
assist her fundraising efforts in attending a world-class wrestling tournament
in Scotland.
2007
In January of 2007, $860.00 was donated to the Pembroke
Pee Wee Kings to send them to the International Silver Stick Tournament
in Port Huron, Michigan.
In March 2007, $200.00 was donated to a young girl from Pembroke
to play on a traveling softball team for the summer of 2007, which would
have been too much of a burden on the family, and the girl would not have
been able to attain the full potential of her abilities.
In April, the Foundation made a donation to Randa Teschner of Petawawa,
a 14-year-old skier from Petawawa to assist her in attending the Whistler
Cup in British Columbia. The donation was made to pay for her flight to
and from the event. The event was held over seven days and Randa placed
14th out of 117 people. The Whistler Cup was attended by participants
from twenty other nations and Randa is the first competitor ever from
the Ottawa Valley to qualify for the event.
In May we donated $1150.00 to Rita Adlam to send three children
from CFB Petawawa to the hockey school that Tim attended and instructed
at in Kingston, Ontario. These kids were chosen from families that had
one or both parents overseas fighting on behalf of our country, and that
had seen their families separated for extended periods of time.
2008
In Jan 2008, the Foundation sponsored the Ottawa Valley
Thunder Bantam BB girls hockey team by donating $650.00 to send them to
the International Silver Stick Tournament in Cold Creek, Ontario. This
team of young ladies is an elite group of hockey players residing in various
areas of the County including Arnprior, Barry's Bay, Beachburg, Cobden,
Killaloe and Pembroke. The girls were fortunate enough to return with
the first ever women's Silver Stick hockey championship for the Ottawa
Valley!
In May the Foundation donated $5151.56 to Sarah Boudens to purchase new
racing equipment. Sarah, a local resident, qualified for the Olympic games
in Beijing, China for women's slalom kayak. 2008 will be a busy year for
Sarah with training, World Championships, world cup races and the Olympics.
We wish her all the best in her future sporting endeavors.
2009
In March of 2009, the Foundation donated $1500 to the Petawawa Civic Centre
fundraising as a portion of the funds required to purchase a stainless
steel bar-b-que to be used for all future events at the Civic Centre Complex.
In turn the fundraising committee graciously donated their services for
our hockey tournament.
In July, the Foundation donated $500 to Spencer McBride, a Laurentian
Valley youth to assist him with partial costs to attend a prestigious
leadership camp. Camp Wilvaken provides a safe, exciting learning experience
for each and every camper, the opportunity to make decisions and accept
responsibilities, an atmosphere of team work where activities are meaningful
and challenging, a place where campers develop a second language, self-esteem,
respect and confidence through sport and leadership training.
Also in July, the Foundation donated $5000 to Zachary Stuart, a nine year
old boy from Petawawa to assist with travel and accommodation expenses
occurring while he fights a rare genetic disease called Adrenal Leuko
Dystrophy, which affects the adrenal glands and white matter of the central
nervous system. Zachary spent over 70 days between the Sick Children's
Hospital in Toronto and CHEO in Ottawa. Zachary still visits Ottawa twice
a week as well as countless other medical professionals regularly. While
only representing a small portion of the expenses occurred, the Foundation
wishes Zachary a full recovery as he battles through his illness. For
more information visit, www.caringbridge.org/visit/zacharystuart
In October of 2009, $1420 was given to Marissa Gaudette as partial funding
for the purchase of a Turney seat. Marissa suffers from Cerebral Palsy
and the Turney seat will assist her in getting in and out of the family
van. The seat was able to be purchased for Marissa by combining funds
from the Tim Adlam Wish Foundation, Easter Seals, Pembroke / Petawawa
Support Association and private donations.
