School Bus
Rules and Discipline

1. All rules of safety as designated by Board Policy are to be followed at all time. These include no eating, no moving about the bus, no fighting, no yelling.

2.  Students must obey the instructions of the driver.

3.  Students will proceed to their designated buses in a timely and orderly manner.

4.  Students will wait in line for their buses.

Discipline On The School Bus

Parents have the first responsibility to ensure that their children know and obey all the school bus rules of conduct. Parents will be expected to co-operate with the school principal and bus driver to ensure their child's proper behaviour while riding the school bus.

The consumption of food or drink is not allowed on the buses as per School Board Policy. This alleviates health and safety concerns regarding allergies (food) and choking.

Should a driver be unable to secure the co-operation of a misbehaving pupil, (s)he shall immediately report to the principal of the school the name of the pupil, and the nature of the offense using the Breach of Discipline report Form provided. The principal will then take any action (s)he deems necessary, which may include withdrawal of the pupil's school bus privileges. The principal shall notify the parents, in writing of any school bus suspension. Withdrawal of bus privileges does not exempt the pupil from regular school attendance.

Pupil's Responsibilities Regarding Busing
(Board Policy)

  • refrain from talking to the driver except in cases of emergency;
  • refrain from unnecessarily loud or boisterous talking and the use of abusive or profane language;
  • remain seated at all times;
  • sit three to a seat where possible;
  • keep windows closed at all times unless otherwise instructed by driver;
  • refrain from littering the bus;
  • be responsible for any willful damage to the bus.
